This project involves the creation of a cohesive visual identity for a line of traditional Myanmar fruit snacks, specifically targeting the Mango and Quince (Chineese Pear) varieties. The goal was to develop a “stand-up pouch” packaging system that balances heritage with modern retail standards. By utilizing a vibrant, fruit-specific color palette—warm orange for mango and bright lime-yellow for quince—the design establishes a clear product hierarchy that helps consumers quickly distinguish between flavors while maintaining a unified brand presence through consistent typography and layout.

Challenges
& Objectives

/ Project Overview

The packaging features a minimalist yet appetizing aesthetic, centered around high-quality, realistic fruit photography on the front panel. Each bag contains 50 pieces, clearly marked at the base, and displays the “Royal White Elephant” seal at the top to signify quality and tradition. The back of the pouch is meticulously organized, containing a nutritional facts table, ingredient list, and manufacturer details located in Mandalay, Myanmar. A unique design element is the die-cut “window” silhouette on the back, which mirrors the shape of the fruit inside, adding a playful and transparent touch to the consumer experience.

/ Challenges

One of the primary challenges was integrating a significant amount of Burmese text and technical information (like nutritional data and contact details) without making the small pouch feel cluttered. The designer had to ensure that the traditional script remained legible against the curved, glossy texture of the packaging material. Additionally, creating a design that felt both “premium” and “authentic” required a careful balance—using clean, modern vector shapes and soft gradients to elevate the product above generic market competitors while keeping the fruit imagery grounded and natural.

/ Objectives

The core objective was to modernize the shelf appeal of traditional Myanmar snacks to attract a broader, perhaps more contemporary, audience. By focusing on cleanliness, transparency, and vibrant color coding, the design aims to communicate freshness and reliability at a glance. The objective also included establishing a “template” system that could easily be scaled to additional fruit varieties in the future, ensuring that as the product line grows, the brand recognition remains strong through the repeated use of the curved side-panels and centralized logo placement.

The final outcome is a professional, market-ready packaging suite that effectively communicates the brand’s story and the product’s quality. The use of bold, saturated colors ensures the pouches stand out on crowded retail shelves, while the systematic placement of the barcode and manufacturing info meets international retail standards. The result is a harmonious blend of cultural identity and commercial functionality, providing a tactile and visual experience that reassures the customer of the “natural” and “authentic” taste of the fruit snacks inside.
